basically i think all gender constructs need to be addressed on a case-by-case basis regarding whether or not they’re in fact a source of oppression, and the validity of said analysis is dependent on the involvement of people with actual lived experiences under such gender constructs, cause I sure as hell don’t want no fuckin’ whiteys deciding whether or not they like how they think about gender in native societies you know.

The primary problem I have with gender abolition is that while I think it is correct in pointing out western gender norms as oppressive it fails to address the fact that there exist a myriad of gender constructs besides the western ones, constructs which may not in themselves be oppressive. But then again, perhaps it is better that it does not address them, or rather, western gender abolitionists shouldn’t talk about them lest we get Janice Raymond treating Hjiras like “weird crossdressers” again.
